Just before midnight tomorrow, June 20th, the sun will move from Gemini to Cancer, from an air sign to a water sign, from mutable energy to cardinal energy. You may feel the shift, Cancer is a more emotional sign, sentimental and protective. Just as water is fluid and takes on the shape of whatever it is poured into, Cancerians sometimes take on the feelings of those around them without realizing it. As a cardinal sign there is an ambition to start projects, to do something often to help or care for others.
Cancer is ruled by the moon which changes signs and energies every few days so when the sun is here our daily cycles may be more varied. Intuition is stronger and we may feel more connected to our family and heritage. We might focus our attention on our homes during the next month and host family get togethers.
Just before the solstice, at 11:06 am ET, Jupiter goes retrograde. This happens every year and last for months, this time until October 18th. The energy is more subtle than a Mercury retrograde, we will just feel the effects of Jupiter more personally in our lives than out in the world at large. Now is a good time to return to a course of study or revisit a favorite country. Take time to think about how you can be fair and just in your own actions and revise your own philosophies.
A few hours after the sun moves into Cancer, Venus in Cancer makes a sweet trine to Neptune in Pisces. This is a nice aspect for romance, love is in the air and the time is right to tell that special someone how much they mean to you. Show yourself some love as well, take time to really connect with yourself. Keep yourself grounded and be careful that you don’t smother your loved ones or fall for a fantasy that has no basis in reality, both possibilities with this combination.
