Winter is a a time for introspection and this January especially calls on us to look in the mirror and evaluate who we are based on our values, our thoughts, how we communicate with our community and how we communicate within our relationships. We have already been working on this period of reflection with Venus in retrograde since mid-December. On the 14th of January we go deeper into review as Mercury shifts into reverse until February 3rd.
With Mercury currently in Aquarius we can expect technology to go on the fritz during the start of this retrograde. This is emphasized by a square (not exact but very close) to Uranus at the station point. Devices may spontaneously short circuit, electricity might be unreliable, mechanical problems could cause delays and transportation may be disrupted. If you are travelling have a backup plan and allow yourself plenty of time. Communications can get garbled. Reread and edit before publishing and sending. Use this time to review data and information but wait until later in February to make decisions or put plans into action.
This is an opportunity to examine how we see ourselves in relationships, especially how we come across to others because communication is highlighted. Where do we put up walls and where do we need boundaries? Mercury will slip back into Capricorn on January 25th, and we are given an opportunity to reconsider our foundations, whether financial or career, maybe our life plan in general. Are we building on solid work, or do we need to shore up certain areas before moving forward?
Mercury will turn retrograde at 6:41 am on January 14th until February 3rd at 11:13 pm. Mercury will shift into Capricorn on January 25th and then go back into Aquarius on February 14th. Venus is currently retrograde and will turn direct on January 29th.
