The planet governing communication stopped and changed direction at 11:12 pm last night, but we are still in a sort of holding pattern for now. As Mercury restarts in forward motion, it’s like thawing out after an ice storm, everything is frozen in place and making moves can be treacherous or at best a little tricky when Mercury stations (stops to change direction). Remember the actual planet is still moving in its orbit around the Sun, a retrograde is just the optical illusion that it seems to stop and go in reverse as the Earth overtakes and passes Mercury as both planets zip around the solar system. It’s like passing a car on the highway, that car doesn’t actually stop or reverse but it seems to as we zoom by it.
As Mercury slowly goes into forward motion there is a slow but steady feeling of release as ideas and messages that may have gotten stuck during the station or even put on the back burner during retrograde slowly reemerge hopefully revised and ready to move forward when the time is right. As Mercury moves through Capricorn there is a chance to lay a strong foundation, with a decisive moment as he meets up with Pluto for the third and final time this year on February 11th. Once Mercury is in Aquarius again, our thoughts and ideas become more innovative and revolutionary. This is a good time to look into tech upgrades but wait until Mercury is out of its shadow (on 2/24) to make actual purchases.
Today’s transits don’t help that forward movement much. Even though Mars is sextile Jupiter and ready to imagine the perfect work around to jump start a plan, a conjunction between the Sun and Saturn throws a caution flag on the play. Take this time to pause and see what will come from your current course of action, is it the best way forward? Today feels like a time out situation where we get a chance to think things through before there are consequences. Take advantage of this because once Venus and Mercury are up to speed things will happen quickly with ALL planets in forward motion from now until April 30th when Pluto turns retrograde.
