The days are long in the northern hemisphere and the nights are hot, it is Cancer season. Just before sunrise on the east coast of the US the Sun will slip into the sign of the Crab, a cardinal water sign that is about belonging to a close-knit group. For many this means family, but it can also encompass close friends, or be as broad as the country you call home. Cancer rules the stomach, represents our home, and has a connection to the maternal parent. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, a planet that changes signs every 2-3 days thus allowing a taste of the rest of the zodiac to shine through for those with a Cancer sun or rising sign.

As we wade into summer, we may become nostalgic for memories of our childhood or miss old friends and times spent with them. Cancer is an emotional sign and its symbol, the crab, lives near the ocean, the birth waters of life. Cancerians are nurtures by nature and often want to feed and care for something – from children to pets to plants. Security is important to those born with personal planets in Cancer, they want to move forward as a cardinal sign, but slowly and cautiously. You may feel these traits while the Sun shimmers through this sign.

The Sun enters Cancer at 5:14 am on the Summer Solstice, June 21st and will leave the sign to strut into Leo on July 22, 2022. Enjoy this time by spending time with family, making home improvements, playing ‘remember when’, and of course, by making and eating delicious food.
