Life is dependent upon change, transformation and growth. Look at nature for confirmation of this fact. Eclipses in astrology usually herald necessary transitions. The Taurus full moon on November 8 at 6:02 am EDT is not only a total lunar eclipse but has both Venus and Mercury next to the Scorpio sun while the moon is very close to Uranus in Taurus. These planets are all in a square to Saturn too. Let’s break that down.

When a planet is close to the sun astrologers call it combust or cazimi with the sun which often signals that something is ‘coming to light’ or being discovered. With both Mercury and Venus in Scorpio, this could be a secret or something we want to stay below the radar. It may have some connection to finances, sex, things we don’t talk about or things we need to get rid of.

During the full moon the sun shines brightly directly across and onto the moon. This often means the house or area of our life containing the full moon (wherever Taurus is in your natal chart) is experiencing a culmination or completion but during an eclipse the Earth gets in between, casting a shadow on the moon. This could mean a set back to completion or a sudden plot twist. With Uranus so close to the moon, the unexpected is likely.

We can go about our normal business but add something unusual to the day (like stopping off at the polls to vote) that could help alleviate the surprise factor. The square to Saturn will add tension to this lunation which is already feeling chaotic. The structure or rules might be broken or overly enforced causing rebellion.

The reason for all of this is to invite change on many levels, to allow for the removal of stagnant or unnecessary parts of our lives and make room for growth and new opportunities to learn.
